p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · DPP 3.14.15 Doesn't Support Lens Correction for 24 TS-E II

I have an image taken with my 5DIII and 24 TS-E II that has some chromatic aberrations. The problem is two-fold:

1) DPP 3.14.15 doesn't have a profile for this lens in the Digital Lens Optimizer (DLO) and this is the latest version listed under the 5DIII.
2) There is no in-camera profile available for this lens to correct CA during capture.

M version of PSE (11) doesn't address CA, and my version of LR (3.6) is too old for the 5DIII and I won't upgrade as that will require a much more powerful computer.

DPP 4.0 isn't an option (yet), unless I install Windows 7 64-bit over my Vista 32-bit. My dual-core Intel 6600 processor is 64-bit, so that may be the only option. However, I can find no indication that this lens is supported in DPP 4 DLO.

My only alternative may be some other software application, preferably free, at most low-cost.

Your suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

Ed

I don't think that TSE lenses were ever supported in DPP 3 or 4 as the shifts are not recorded electronically (the lens movement is fully mechanical). You would have to apply CA correction off center or pad the image to cover the full circle of coverage.

Programs that simply kill color saturations may still work, though those are technically not as good.

Adobe doesn't have corrections for the TS-E lenses. The movements make it impossible to calibrate them. You will be able to manually reduce CA in the lens correction panel, however.
Time marches on, a computer that runs Vista should be capable to run Win7

Hi Ed
neither DPP 4.1.50 nor DPP 3.14.47 have a profile for any of the TS-E lenses.
Same with DxO Optics Pro 10 too.

C1 will eliminate CA and you can manually dial in the amount of lens shift - 30 day free trial if it's only a one off.....

What may be more surprising is that DPP 4.1.50 does not support Canon 300mm f2.8 L IS vs 1. It supports vs 2 only.
LR 5 does support 300mm f2.8 L IS 1.

^Canon are emphasizing the new stuff, first. We'll see how they get around to adding data for prior lenses.

I hope that's not a sign that they're going to drop maintenance on the Mk I any time soon.
