Nikons have only had crop mode since they have had full frame sensors, which is what 7 years?

Canon have never needed crop mode because none of their crop only lenses will work and the processing systems have been built to cope with full bit depth full size images at maximum rates.

You will be after lossy compressed 12bit mode next...

Apparently you never had a D2X. You can a crop a DX image even further too.
The current D7100 also has a (1.3x) crop mode. I don't like to use it but the buffer is better.

Lol nikon gives you a crop with your crop so you can crop your crop because they are crap?

Well according to this post at DPR HSC is a Nikon patent from ~2005
