The little guys don't get enough attention. Here's a few with the 7D II, 100-400 II, and 1.4X III.
It was very windy and cold, back and forth between overcast and sunny.
Handheld
AI Servo
Sorry I don't know what any of these are.
Nice set Rod, looks like you for sure have a winning combo. The first shot is a beautiful male Purple Finch. Your making me still think about a 7DII! I might have to put the 500/4 on the back burner...

A top set Rod, do you find using the 1.4 much better than just cropping in with the bare lens? & how much does the 1.4 slow down AF?
Joe.
Thanks Joe,
I find it better using the 1.4 than cropping for the small birds. I'm far from being an expert but I don't think the 1.4 affects IQ very much. It does slow down a bit but I haven't really compared as to how much compared to the bare lens.
Heck, I use AI servo for everything and I'm sure others will disagree with me on that.
Gee Rod, these are great. They're so detail rich but there's a subtlety and accuracy to the colours too, very authentic, like we're seeing them as they were. Vague I know, a bit hard to express...
