I started using re-using an old RF film camera a few years back because I felt the need to make personal photographs more, which had fell down the pecking order. And I discovered in the process of doing this that enjoying the actual process of creating the photo, with the camera, is quite significant for me when it comes to personal images. Whereas with work, you have to be on your toes all the time, there can be stress, you just need to get the images you need, and for me the reward is how they make the client feel and all the stuff that happens after. With my own photos, enjoyment is pretty key.

doug those are awesome!! And yes Leica mirrorless is way more mature than those new pesky Olympus and Sony offerings. AF?! What are we, kids?!

And the Leica stuff is really the only stuff that really holds its value and can be passed down to future generations.

Imagine if your kid was like "son...this was your grandfathers Olympus OMD E5...if you can still charge the battery you can use it". The kids gonna be "wtf"
Now imagine if your kid is like "son this was your grandfathers Leica M3 and 50 summilux...love it and it will love you back...use it and then pass it down to your children...and if you cannot find film put it on the shelf and admire its timeless beauty". The kid is going to be like "I will clean it daily and whisper sweet nothings to it while I try to channel Grandpa Zalmy's incredible talent."

And I'm a bit more than a little bit jealous of the Monochrom. I've been close to pulling the trigger a few times but haven't.... yet.

For me, there's something addictive about shooting with a rangefinder. Every other camera I own makes you look at the world wide open. With the RF everything is in focus. And because everything is essentially mechanical I can tell what aperture and focus distance I have by feel. When I'm shooting with a Leica I keep the camera to my eye at all times because I can see what's going on and I can change my settings by feel. I don't need to take the camera away from my eye to see, even in the dimmest reception.

Sometimes it's nice to have AF and auto exposure and all the bells but mostly I find them a distraction from getting things done. Less is more as they say.

The only think I wish for is a smaller TTL flash with bounce AND swivel. The SF58 is an unwieldy beast on an M.

Zalmy the Jewish women you shoot are about the most attractive grouping of brides I have ever seen. I a little less traditional in my opinions of true beauty and the stereotypical attractive bride just doesn't really do it for me...however your brides are knockouts.
