Hey, guys!

First of all, let me thank all the people that commented on my introduction thread - I`m glad you like my stuff & I`ll provide you some more ASAP.

Here`s couple of shots of Margarita - she`s an actress and it was our first shoot.

Studio shoot. Natural light only as usual.

Nice work, but these look rather "painterly." The eyes may "pop" a little too much for my tastes as well.

Both are excellent! If I had to choose an absolute favorite one between the two, I'd go with the first one.

I like both; #1 is my favorite. Waiting to see more. Do you use an app to smooth, or does she just have the best skin?

I'll dissent a bit. +1 @ Elliot painterly / pop ... they seem a touch heavy handed, but for some that is en vogue.

Artistic rendering rules, but I think that while nice, they seem a touch oversaturated / overcontrast and slightly unnatural looking. About a -20 or so sat / cont seems to be more natural to my taste. Also, in number one, her hair seems too sharp for her eyes. The sharpening isn't "crunchy" or bad, per se ... just that the balance of fine, wispy sharp to her hair competes with "blocky" contrast detail of her face / eyes / lashes.

Take note of the transition of sharpness from her (camera) left side hair to her (camera) right eye. It looks like you caught the plane of her hair for focus. Just wondering if you might want to adjust for that a bit.

Just a few things that caught my attention that you might want to review.

#2 ... just seems awkward to me.

Styling to taste, I much prefer #1

Now back to your regular programming of ... "pop & wow, I love it".

These are lovely. I appreciate the painterly look to the photos.

The eyes are a matter of taste and these might be a little over-processed for me, but I withhold judgment because I am aware what preparing an image for the web can do. If anything, the big catchlights in the second image would be my nit.

Kent brought up some interesting points to consider, mainly the difference in sharpening between the hair and the eyebrows/eyelashes. I didn't notice them until he mentioned it, but it made me think of my own post processing and how I might approach hair sharpening. I part ways with him on the saturation, I don't find it overly done, especially compared to other photos I see at FM.

There is one thing that I did notice in the background of the first photo. There seems to be a herringbone pattern, almost like a moire. I'm wondering if this is an artifact from sizing for the web.

Anyway, I should have spent more words singing the praises of the photos, which I think are wonderful. She is a lovely young lady well captured.

Polarizing? Do you mean mesmerizing?

Knowing the definitions of polarizing, I can't for the life of me see how the word could be applied to the image.

+1 @ S&P to taste.

Just struck me as a very nice image that could be rendered a bit more naturally. Comparing it to a lower standard, doesn't mean it can't be rendered to a different one that is still lovely. Just something for the OP to consider @ dialing back a touch.

These are nice. They are different from most in terms of processing. It's nice to see something different.

Doug, there's your polarizing comment right there!

Braineack, totally get what you're saying. I don't usually like it when the skin is overdone, but this one isn't overdone for my taste. I really do like it as it is.

Well, guys, thanks for your opinions on PP - I guess that you`re confused by resized pictures - on fullsize pictures I clearly see pores, skin texture, wrincles etc. Have to mention, that my retouching techniques varies on different models - some are natural looking if they have little to no makeup, some are more glamourous if they had makeup & their hair done. You can check out my Flickr or 500px to see that.

Also I have to say that you`re not bearing in mind the fact that she has quite generous make-up & it always adds that kinda dollish look. But hey, maybe you`re right & this time I shouldn`t do so generous dodging & burning of tweak it back a little.

Thanks for your comments anyway - I guess there`s no way to please everybody.)

First off, I think the photos are wonderful. I love them both.

I do see a bit of a painterly look in the photos. In other ways they almost look cinematic- like there is a bit of grain.
