Beautiful snake...I think its an eyelash pit viper (don't think snakes have eyelids

)...the color is beautiful and cool reflection in the water. I saw one (different color) in Costa Rica and a guide literally put a point and shoot 4" away and it didn't flinch...I think they are very very tolerant of people and not at all skittish.
As a comment....for a second version, crop out the reflection and have the image just include the snake itself....I think that may turn out to be a stronger image even though it's not the way you "saw" it. For one thing, it will diminish the "looking down at it" effect somewhat.

That's a beautiful specimen -- bigger than any of the golden vipers I've seen. I really like the reflection; it's pretty unique for eyelash viper photos. Man, that's such an awesome setting.

Like Eric said, since they're ambush hunters, they can just sit there no matter how close you get (at least the smaller ones). The first time I saw one (gold morph), it was so still, perched atop a large leaf, I wasn't convinced it was real. I spent several minutes debating over whether or not I should poke it. I didn't. I've seen the same behavior in hognose vipers.

Yea, this was very still. I was rather nervous around it. I tend to avoid snakes but it was too good to pass up.

Very nice. I enjoy the reflection in this image, though I feel like it would be more effective with some blurring in the reflection, so as not to be too distracting.

I could but the reflection is real. The water was very still.
