Hello FM'er i've had my 5D lll for a year now and love it. My question is about September the main dial became a bit hard to turn and then it would be fine. Going back and forth stiff then normal now it's not that I couldn't turn it it was a bit stiff. Last weekend I saw something black sticking out, but didn't feel it just saw it. Tried a can of air and I wouldn't move, so I grabbed a stright pin and was able to get it free. Well it fianlly came out it it was rubber like a gasket. Question is what do you think it could be and should I send it to Canon to look at it?

TIA

Yan

may be part of the water-proofing needed.
I would send the camera in for repair.

I managed to knock the 300mm f2.8L with a 1.4x over and dent the main dial on my 5DIII. I used it a couple of months until the metal top plate popped off. I ended up sending it to United Camera and having it repaired.

Yan, you really have answered your own question here. Without a doubt, you've removed an internal part and the body should be sent back to Canon for repair. Ken's comment is spot on
ps: better to use 'then' vs 'than'
