Thought I'd share some pics from my new "studio" stacking set up as someone on the set-up page asked for examples of the results I'm getting with it.

The shots of the new set up for stacking

Loving my new YN560-TX - control the manual YN560IIIs/IVs flashes from the camera

and a couple using the same rig but with continuous cheapo LED ring flash with a paper sauce cup. The main problem with this was the low power and the subsequent 8 second exposure time which when doing a large number of shots added to the 3 second exposure delay made it quite tedious !

Very impressive results. The reflections on shiny surfaces are very well controlled.

I like your use of the subdued lighting effect in the final images.

Thanks fellas.

Harold - yeah, I like them that way, it's not like they are for entomological purposes. Either that or the fact that I use an uncalibrated laptop screen

The lighting works really well with regard to shiny surfaces, simple enough to move the flashes or change their orientation, power etc. and the box is great as it's so light to lift off, adjust, put back on etc.

Great lighting especially on the shiny subject in the first two images. If only there's a "field macro version" for shooting live subjects.

Love the light on that beetle

If I ever get into stacking that's the way that I plan to do it, but with the lethargic subjects I find in the yard early in the morning.

Cheers guys.

John - yeah that's the trouble here, nothing is ever lethargic cos the temperature rarely drops. At the moment it's 30 degrees C at 8am.

I know this thread is a couple months "old" but wow those are some really great shots. And a great DIY rig setup. Very nice!

Thanks Joel ! Yeah, I was shocked to see it back on page 1 again this morning

I'm about to post again with more recent subjects.
