I recently applied for NPS (I meet all the qualifications, including gear and have a few NPS members who can sponsor/confirm for me), but have yet to receive a reply from NPS (it's been over 13 days).

Does anyone know how long it usually takes? Or do they take a bit longer to verify/dig/check?

Patience used to be a virtue if I can still remember correctly. Nikon needs to verify everything first.

Mine seemed to take around 2-3 weeks. It's not an instant process, that's for sure. You should be in the home stretch though

Also, once you get the long awaited email from NPS, it will take some time to get your packet from NPS. I waited maybe a month and a half to get the packet.

Yup - I forgot about that. I was at least a month for me.

When I applied about 5 years ago or so the wait time was around 6 months! I think it's much faster now.

I just recently sent an SB800 in for repair and it took a week from me shipping to Nikon to my door. Awesome!!

For NPS, they require that a current NPS members verifies that you do photography full-time. If you shoot news, sports, or anything where another professional photographer would also cover around your area locally, it's quite easy to get a sponsor. That's how I found the handful who would sponsor me.

That's on top of the equipment.

It's probably best to get someone who at least knows you somewhat personally to sponsor you.

I've sponsored tons of people on FM. I'd nearly sworn off this forum, but signed on today out of old habit. Send me the link to your website and I'd be glad to sponsor you.

Someone did the same for me years ago on this forum when people used to be friendly.
