p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · D7000 oil issues?

I have a D7000 on the way, and I've read a few posts online about some D7000s being afflicted with the oil issue (similar to the D600). Is this as common with the D7000 as it was with the D600? Has anyone on here experienced it?

I have had 2 D7000's. I bought one when they first came out (@2010) and recently bought another when the price became too good to pass up. Neither camera I have had had any oil (or any other) issues.

I think it was a minor thing on some D7000s, nowhere near the debacle (real or imagined) the D600 was.

I've had one for a number of years now and never had any problem of any kind let alone oil spots

There's apparently a Flickr group dedicated to the D7000 oil issue.

Some are saying that the issue may be exacerbated by using the "quiet mode". I will test after I get mine.

I don't think you will have issues, good luck!

Is a real issue. I bought mine used last year and the camera could have been more than 2 years old but with less than 10k shutter counts. I was cleaning up some oil on the senors few months ago too.

I had a D7000, bought it about 6 months after they came out. Had a ridiculous amount of oil spots, ended up having to clean after every shoot for the first 2 months or so. Eventually went away after that though. It's annoying, but not the end of the world...just might have to clean frequently.

I have a very early D7000 and still have to wet clean my sensor after every other shoot but it's not as bad as it use to be. I have a shoot on Sunday so I'll be cleaning it tonight. From the other posts it's not an is sinus with a lot of camera. I believe it was just an issue with a small number of the early cameras. It's a little irritating but I don't thank it's that big of a deal to clean the sensor.

I did notice that many of the threads about the D7000 oil issues were from 2-3 years ago, and that the issue was resolved after Nikon replaced the mirror box assembly in the affected cameras. Hopefully the later-production D7000s are immune from the oil issue.
