Apple should really buy some small-ish camera manufacturer.

Interesting is Nikon D90, kinda going for legendary status.. But then, I dont even remember if it had some negatives.

Good stuff; nice to see Canon and Nikon gaining!

Interesting graph, but it seems to me the analysis is a bit off. Based on the first chart, it was pretty obvious to my eyes that both Canon and Nikon lost quite a bit of share from beginning of 2013 to the end of 2014. At the same time, Samsung had the most gain, while Apple remained about the same.

I did not read the whole blog carefully. It looks like camera phone gained the most in the 2 years, assuming Samsung mostly for phone, while dslr, Canon and Nikon, lost the most. This is based on eye-balling the "area" for each brand, and comparing the size from the beginning of 2013 and end of 2014.

So the average flickr user doesn't use my camera.
I'll take this as a good sign

The mirrorless category is interesting with the Sony A7 series being the second most popular despite being available for only a year.

Fuji seems to be doing fairly well with a growing market share while Oly and Pany are losing ground a bit.

Looking at just the top 10 mirrorless, Sony has ~14%, Oly 7% and Fuji 5% of the category, so effectively 6 models account for around 35% Sony's mirrorless market share.

Also Pentax has effectively vanished by the end of 2014.

It will be interesting to see if CIPA's numbers match flickrs. Last time I saw their data, Fujifilm's marketshare was <2%.

2014's numbers should come out in not too long a time.
