One of my favorite herons to photograph/watch is the reddish egret. In Florida, there are only 350-400 pairs. They are a very active heron, stalking their prey and using their wings to reduce glare on the water. They are also highly animated while chasing their prey, often jumping, changing directions etc. In other words, fun to watch!

1 Fluffing those feathers

Beautiful set Dave I love the reddish egrets. I remember extending a saltwater marsh tour another hour as I was so into photographing one once.

I love #1,2 and 6, but #3 is my top pick. I love the breeding colors in the lores and beak in that bird.

Thanks BB. I honestly didn't know about dinner until I got the photo on the computer. I like the way its suspended in mid air.

Thanks Herb. 3 is also one of my favorites. It takes a "perfect storm" to catch the the reddish egret hopping across the water while facing the camera in good light and a decent background.
