p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · More practice with 150-600: Red-Bellied Woodpecker

I've been out practicing in the back yard with my new Tamron 150-600 on some local birds and this guy got in the way! I'm finding I can't handhold this lens very well even at the 400mm range that I was able to use with my 100-400 so I'm staying on the tripod for awhile. Of course, maybe that's what's expected at this range - 600mm (960 on my 7D).

Now where am I supposed to put this?

Well done Rich. The stabilization on that lens is decent. Try a test with in on and off and see if there is a difference, possibly it's not you.

Happy New Year,

Morris

Thanks Morris! I have been using it both with and without stabilization on. Getting mixed results both on and off the tripod. I've noticed that even though it calls for having stabilization off when on a tripod, it helps reduce shake induced by shutter actuations especially when I'm doing multiple-shot sequences (of stationary subjects). When I'm trying to pan and shoot moving subjects, stabilization needs to be off. Either way, I'm still not coordinated enough to shoot moving subjects with the tripod mount yet.
