In 2011 on the northwestern tip of Oahu a predator-proof fence (mongoose, rodents and cats) was erected to protect the breeding ground of seabirds including Laysan Albatross. The half-mile long fence designed in New Zealand has been effective and the bird population has increased. This past weekend I hiked about two miles to Kaena Point to photograph the albatross. Used the diminutive Nikon V3 and 70-300cx to get up to 800mm of reach. A few photos below.
