Most of my people/portrait work are families and individuals (seniors, head shots etc.). I do shoot a few weddings a year, but my job doesn't really lend itself much to being free on weekends, so weddings are more difficult. I also don't mind renting to fill gaps when I do shoot weddings.

On the prime end, I'm definitely keeping the 35 and 85 and selling the Sigma 50mm ART. Still on the fence about the 135. I love that lens.

On the zoom end, I'll eventually sell the 16-35, but I'm going to play with it first . I just don't do enough ultra wide landscapes to justify the 16-24 range not covered by my 24-70. I forgot to mention that I also have a samyang 14mm prime (just can't use the lee filters with it).

That might have to be good enough for now

The nice thing about your system is that you have a core of excellent lenses, both primes and zooms. So you have a lot of flexibility and high quality for a wide variety of subjects. It's hard to go wrong when you buy quality gear and know how to use it!

I'm a photojournalist, but the 16-35 f/4L IS, the 24-70 f/2.8L II and the 70-200 f/4 (I would prefer the 70-200 f/2.8L IS II) are key lenses. The other stuff is nice and I actually own some of these but rarely use them. 5D III bodies.

There's a lot of discussion among prime purists, of course, but the top pro Canon zooms are just phenomenal. I, and a lot of other pros, shoot about 95% of everything with these three lenses.

I see it like this personally.

Wildlife
Tamron 150-600

Portrait
Canon 35mm f/1.4
Canon 85mm f/1.2 II

Landscapes
Canon 16-35mm f/4 IS

Sell the rest. I'd then look into adding a 70-200 f/2.8 IS mkII as a longer portrait lens, or, keep the 135 f/2 and buy a teleconverter to use with it.

For wedding work, rent what you need. A second body, and the 70-200. That plus your primes and the wide, should be a great wedding kit.

Keep the f4 zooms for coverage/general purpose and fill in the gaps with decent primes.

You could save some cash by swapping the 35 1.4 for the Canon 35 f2 IS which is cheaper but still stellar.

Dump the 50, 135, 150-600, and 70-200. Pick up a 70-200 II, it'll replace your 135 and give you much better subject isolation for people photography and is significantly more flexible in my opinion than the f/4 version and 135.

My work horses have been:

• 24-70 f2.8 L
• 70-200 f2.8 L IS II

The primes I've used the most have been:

• 35L
• 85L

I almost never shot at 50mm.

I loved the 135L but the 70-200 was much more use to me.

Had two 16-35L copies and hated both of them.

I'd also dump the Tamron, but then I don't need that focal length.

Take from that what you will.

I love Jim's car idea.
However, if it were me and I do shoot weddings and events, I would get rid of the 16/35 4 and either the 135 or 85.

If you kept the 85 and will need more $ to get to your number, add the Sigma 50 to the sell pile.

Whatever you do, keep what your use most and is important to you.
The Tammy, while used for fun and relaxation, may be at the top of the important list, if it recharges your personal power pack.

Let us know what you get for you car.
