p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Lightweight bag , looking for options/recommendations

I'm looking for a lightweight bag that at a maximum can fit a D600 (possibly with grip) , 28-80mm , 85mm 1.8 G , 105 DC , Sekonic L358 Lightmeter, a pocketwizard, and maybe some odds and ends.

I plan to bring this on shoots when I don't want to bring my big Think Tank backpack.

Looking for recommendations.
Thanks in advance.

Thinktank citywalker 20? The grip might be a bit tight but the rest should fit.

Should fit in a Retrospective 10 or Crumpler 6 or 7 Million Dollar Home. Also, should squeeze in the Timbk2 Snoop (S).

Retrospective 10 is perfect for the gear you listed. If you ever want to carry a long lens on camera like 70-200mm the taller Retrospective 20 is what you need. Great bags, I love mine.

My 7D and 70-200 4L IS USM fit fine in my Retrospective 10 stowed lens down in the center. The LCD is about even with the top edge of the bag.

Aren't the Retro's pretty heavy even when empty? Lowepro's Messenger range might be a better bet for 'lightweight'.

Lowepro messenger 180 is the bag I use when I don't want to take my whole kit. Easily fits d800, 24-120, 300 f4, 50mm, 1.7tc, sb900 in its case. Along with filters rocket blower and other acc in the front and side pockets. I also have Photobackpackers backpack for my 4x5 gear, and another Lowepro trecker if I'm taking my full kit.

If you're planning on shooting out of the bag then you need a Domke bag or clone. They are soft canvas and you can weatherproof them with Nikwax TX.Direct and they remain soft.

Much to my surprise Tiffen are still selling the original Jim Domke designs, although I don't think you'll find them in stores any more.

I use both Domke original and Safrotto (clone) bags and IMO the Safrotto bags are better made with higher quality materials than the current Domke "Heritage" bags. You can buy them on eBay - here's an example.

I managed it get a new super lightweight bag under the tree: the F-Stop Millar Bandon. It's about the same size as my Billingham Hadley Pro but a couple inches deeper. It's also one of the lightest bags I've owned, natural to shoot out of, no metal clip or zippers to scratch gear and holds my 6D/24-105 4L and extra lens, flash and iPad mini like a champ:
