Before the Christmas, I had a chance to go down Southern California with my son for Universal Studio.
I was lucky enough to have Thang showing me around Bolsa Chica and San Joaquin and shooting birds the whole day.
I have got some of my first time birds; I am very happy. Thanks very much, anh Thang for taking me out photographing. I really enjoyed the day.

Here are some of my shots from that day. All are taken with 1D4 and 500 Mk1 + 1.4x II TC.
Quite a long post but I think it is better to put all in to one post for that trip that I will remember forever.

Good series! Thanks for the highlights and the reminder I need to get up to Boca Chica. I live in S.D. and have been meaning to meet some friends up there who are regulars. I'll go ASAP!

Tam, Looks like you had a productive trip and a good guide,
with all the thousands of hours I've been shooting BC I've never seen a Western Grebe in flight
let alone photograph one, Congratulations

Thanks very much, anh Thang. I have booked my Spring trip with my big boss named "Wife" already. She will go with my son to Universal Studio again in Spring break and I can go shooting with you.

Thanks very much, Tim. It is my first time seeing the western grebe in flight. If I had time to go on the next day, I probably had a chance to meet you in person, Tim.

A very nice set Tam. Lots of variety too, and too many good ones to pick. The grebe in flight shot is a first for me too - I don't remember seeing a shot of one posted before ~ Ron

#23, grebe dancing is super. I'd love to be able to photograph that. I thought it only happened in the spring.
You certainly have a large variety of subjects here.

Holy cow, now that's a day worth of shooting for sure. Excellent set, but my pick as a favorite is the Reddish Egret, very well done and what a pose you captured.
