p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Rokkor 58mm 1.4 PF ...

I just received one as part of a vintage camera kit with an X700.

I've not used any Minolta glass before and would be mounting to an EF Mount. It's been a while since I considered getting Rokkor glass, but now that I have some, what pro's / con's / options should I be aware of?

Since this was a gift, conversion (rather than adapters) is a viable possibility as I'll want to keep it to perpetuity for sentimental reasons.

Thanks for the link.

No lathe for me ... that would have to be farmed out to someone like Jim.

reversible conversion can be done (by jim and others), but it requires more skill/equipment than permanent conversion, which can be done with sandpaper and some patience. the lens is rather low contrast with funky bokeh that is great to get a nostalgic look and very nice for a certain kind of portrait. performance wise it lags considerably behind the later rokkor MC 50/1.4 and MC 58/1.2.
