Probably, in that he seemed to be slowly regaining his awareness. I pressed the wrong button on my camera and shot a couple of short videos, showing his rhythmic movements, the head end rotating downwards and the tail up and seeming to be in a circular movement. Very strange!

When we returned for our pub lunch, two hours later, he was not where I left him.

Nice bird close up. I come across sleeping birds too at night. Don't get to do that very often

Kurt, we have to be very careful, in the UK, about which birds we photograph and where they are when we do so, especially at the nest. A special licence is often needed. The main priciple is not to disturb them. I do wonder where the day-flying insects, apart from dragonflies and damselflies, are to be found at night and in the early morning.
