most individuals shoot color and then convert to B/W in post. this gives the creator the best control over the final product.
if i want i can make my images via various software options to reproduce well known film types (both color and B/W) from the days of yore. some do incredibly well too. they allow control over grain, contrast, and such. even cross processing.
i do have/use a D4s in my work amongst other cameras. by working in post the process does not limit my hardware usage to any particular brand or style of equipment. all 3 of my bodies(D4s, D810, D7000) offer a monochrome option and so does my P/S(Fuji X20).
