p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · ONA Astoria camera bag

Just picked up a Ona Astoria camera bag and thought I'd post a few photos and some quick general impressions. Overall the bag is very well made and has more room than I anticipated (which is a good thing). I am able to carry all my current Nikon gear but I do wish the dividers were about 2 inches high to avoid any chance of my 70-200 bumping my camera when not attached.

Very well made, nicely designed and really comfortable shoulder strap.

The only Ona marking on the bag is inside the main compartment. The bag itself is very discrete.

Gear - Rocket blower, Nikon 14-24, Nikon 24-70 & Nikon 58mm.

Nikon D810 attached to a Nikon 70-200 VR II - barely fits inside the lip of the bag. It is a little snug but not too tight.

Nikon D810 with Nikon 24-70 attached. This is where I wish the dividers were just a little taller.

Figured out a work around for the above mentioned problem. I took the spare inserts I had from the Astoria and attached them together - forming a nice removable barrier.

Plenty of storage for cards and whatnot...

On the outer ends there are 2 pockets. I have my battery charger and spare battery in one. Both have small magnets to help keep them shut if needed.

well, it is a nice looking bag and well made for what it is. but at $360 it is more of a style statement product. as you found somewhat limiting. waxed canvas will require maintenance downline. as to when depends on how you treat it. end pockets are great scoops in inclement weather.

this pretty much says it all:
"In summer 2010, I launched ONA with a simple vision: to offer style-conscious photographers and photography enthusiasts camera bags and accessories that complement their life and style"

Looks fantastic! I had a Ona bag, the Brixton, which I really liked. But it was more style over substance for me. Even with just the D810 and a 24-120 attached it out a strain on my shoulder after about an hour. The bags completely empty seem to weigh 3-4 lbs.

Great looking bag! I give it a '10' for style points. As stated, that was the primary design, functions probably OK but lacks some features I'd like. Open pockets in my cases tend to collect debris besides rain. Other than wiping down the exterior with a damp cloth my bags get very little exterior maintenance.

The Ona bags are style over substance for sure. I have a Brixton and found the strap way too short for my 6'1" frame. I modified it myself. I bought 2 of their very expensive straps and found them both much too heavy for my fuji x100 and canon 5d3. I installed the straps and removed them both after a big scratch appeared on the lcd of the x100. They have metal buckles. Looks great but not at all practical. I removed both straps after one week of use. Ona heard of my dilemma and 'reached out' to me but ultimately said they haven't heard of other cases of their straps scratching lcd's so would do nothing to help, not even a partial refund.
