Looked out my window this afternoon and what did I see? He flew off with the carcass after about 15 minutes, but left a pile of blue and gray feathers.






Canon 1Ds MkII, Tamron 150-600mm at 600mm, f/8, 1/100 sec, 800 ISO cropped about 50%

Good catch, Jeff. There were two of those guys here yesterday fighting over whatever victim one of them had just killed.

Cooper's are fairly common in my area as the seniors love to put out bread and seeds for the song birds etc.

Quite true; the best way to set-up a Cooper's feeding station is to feed the seed-eaters.

Yes, it is too bad that everyone can't place the feeders right next to thick bushes where the songbirds have some chance of escape.
