This is the left side of a large flock of snow geese that took off from the East Pond of Jamaica Bay NWR yesterday in pouring rain. When I arrived there were about 1,500 snow geese gathered at the south end of the pond. When it started to rain heavy, I moved to the west side of the pond which features a permanent blind which provided some shelter and a nice place for me to shoot form. This photo is from the blind. I call this photo controlled flight as the JFK tower is visible in the lower right corner.

This panorama made up of four images shows the 1,500 snow geese and other birds stretched out along the east bank of the pond. The line is about 200 yards long. They were closer to me earlier and I'll snow some photos were you can see detail on the individuals in another post. The east pond is about 1 mile long and 1/4 mile wide.
