gqllc007 - I'm not sure about the different AF cases here. I bought the camera, charged it, and went to shoot. I still have yet to go through the manual and make sense of all the menu options that the 1D Mark III did not have. AI Servo was used and I messed around with center spot AF, center AF, center + 4 expand, and 9 or 12 active AF points. I found myself liking the center spot and center + 4 expand the most in this situation.
kapytalyst - Haha I've been dying to do some birding but haven't had the time for a full outing like that yet. Yes, shooting our own species was quite fun though
Daniel Smith - Agreed, skill is definitely required, however, it's a lot nicer to shoot with a camera that can do a great job with AF tracking and high burst rates. I started out with the original EOS Digital Rebel that had a 4 frame buffer @ 2.5 fps and the slowest buffer empty time I've ever seen. During long plays on the soccer and football fields, it was such a pain. I missed hundreds of shots simply because I was waiting for those 4 images to clear.
