After a few days out I have worked out a few kinks new to me like disabling continuous focus in LV shooting. That was a little frustrating watching it hunt on its own. Still working on becoming fluid with new options and operations.

In "M" I cant move the metering bar to the bottom of the viewfinder like It appears in CF modes. Am I missing something?

I meant Custom shooting modes, not CF.

Others have mentioned that.

If you turn on "Auto ISO" I think teh bottom bar works. You could set a ceiling of ISO 200 or 400 perhaps? I haven't tried it.

there is a set of Canon Learning videos, 7 minutes each on different components. Maybe 6, 7, 8 of them?

Plus a 7DII Auto-focud Guide, very similar to the 46 page guide Canon did for the 1DX/5DIII. Sorry, no links handy.

Good luck!

Thanks, I have the AF guide on the desktop referring to it often, im getting a grip on that. It is strange that the meter bar displays on the bottom in AV, TV and C modes but no manual. I dont care for the side bar when everything I need is already along the bottom.

I'll try the videos I guess.

Yes it does illuminate in Auto ISO, I hadn't noticed. Ahh, the joys of a new camera.

^^ These are pretty complex beasts! It is a good/bad sort of thing.

We want more features, but that also puts a petty big demand on the user. When I had a studio and shot 35,000 images a year I got to know the capabilities of a camera pretty quickly. Now, not so much ...

I think we need to just treat it as part of teh fun of a new toy. Plus once you learn the auto focus system, etc. it will transfer to the next version. As the 5D3/1DX users can attest about the 7DII.

Good luck!
