I got my 100-400L II yesterday and today I was able to try it with my 7D II.
The results were more than satisfactory and I got impressed with the performance of that combo either with stationary or moving subjects. Here are a few.

Outstanding work Socrate, thank you for continuing to share your images and experiences with both the 7D Mark II as well as the new 100-400L Mark II. I have to say that your contributions (as well as those of Mitesh) are single-handedly keeping me intrigued about the 7D Mark II.

May I ask what ISO the images in your last post were taken at? In addition, would you mind sharing if you used any localized noise reduction in your post-production (with the bird masked from the noise reduction)? If a PM response is preferred so as not to cloud this thread, that'd also be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance,

Kevin

First few sunny winter shots from my "new" 28-70/3.5-4.5. (Thanks, Jon!)

Veiling flare from sun getting around the lens shade. Nice, soft, warm effect in low glancing light.

Sorry, I'm conflicted and not sure which I like better -- I think the first one is more powerfully direct, but this one seems graphic, yet narrative.

Tried to find King Fisher this morning, failed. But lucky I brought my 24-70II to catch the sun rises

Oooh... looks like they are well armed!
My own entry will not be nearly as spectacular. I just liked this particular moment in Moscow, while en route to my friend's place (Dec. 13th).

Doesn't look like these solar panels will be operational anytime soon... I mean, there's nothing to light them.

Thanks for the kind words, Kevin. All the images posted in both posts where taken @ ISO 400 and f/8. I do most of my editing in ACR and used the Detail Panel in ACR with these these standard settings (Detail and NR) unless the image is very noisy, in which case I increase the Masking and Luminance:
- Amount: 25
- Radius: 0.7
- Detail: 0
- Masking: 10
- Luminance and Luminance Detail: 20
- Color and Color Detail: 20
Just dusting off the image a bit
These setting are applied to the whole image
In PS, after resizing for the web, I use an action for sharpening which applies two different sharpening to the whole image and that I can adjust with the opacity slider. I didn't need to mask the bg on most of these since the little sharpening wasn't showing much in the bg.
The lighting condition in those images were very good and helped with the clarity and sharpness (and the editing).
For noisy images, in PS I use Topaz De-Noise on the subject and Noiseware on the bg.
Hope this helps
Socrate

That still looks formidable. I almost wish I had bought the 100-400 when I was getting my first tele (I opted for the 70-200/2.8 IS instead). Of course, I would've missed shooting at 200mm f/2.8 in dim light, but 400mm is 400mm...

I still keep this lens, small and compact FF standard zoom, I like its inner zoom and good enough PQ (I found it is even better than my Sony FE2470 in terms of corner sharpness and distortion)

Once a FF DSLR body come out with 100D size, this lens will be the perfect match!

I picked up an 85L this week and had a chance to play with it, attached to my 5DMkIII, a couple nights ago as a friend’s baby was playing baby Jesus at a local church for “Back to Bethlehem” and we decided to take our kids/girls so they could enjoy the experience.

Back to Bethlehem re-creates the time, place, sights and sounds of ancient Bethlehem on the night of the first Christmas. We were able to buy scrolls, authentic foods, encounter carpenters and basket weavers, among other things, with the shekels (money) we were given. Also, they were able to see Mary and Joseph with their newborn baby.

Hope you enjoy the pics and get a good feel of the experience through the images…

Thank you for sharing your process Socrate! Very helpful to get a sense of what was done to the image file.. I was originally thinking your images were shot at a much higher ISO and had some amazing noise-reduction applied, but alas ISO 400 cleared that up for me.

What a great tree, it looks very inviting. I want to stroll down that road, stretch out under that tree and take a nap in the sun.
