A couple of months back I got the opportunity to shoot an AMA Motocross national at the Indiana National. I have been a long time SX / MX fan, and have ridden dirt bikes for most of my life, but I have never had the chance to properly photograph a race. A chance came my way to shoot this race with a press pass so I borrowed a second 7D body and rented a 300 2.8 IS and went for it.
The day was pretty nasty, with rain falling all morning. The end of the day ended in nice weather, but the track was a mess. The mud I had to clean off myself was worth it for the pics. I shot with the 300 2.8, and my 70-200 2.8 II. The 7-200 did fantastic, but struggled with reach, so most of my 'keepers' have been from the 300.
