p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Tripod heads...?

Hello,
I have been researching tripod heads to buy. I will be using it in the field for wildlife, landscapes, moving subjects etc. with a Canon 5D and large, heavy lenses. Seeing the wide range of manufacturers and prices, I thought I would ask for opinions to help narrow down the long list. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You....

Large heavy lenses probably means going down the Gimbal head route

More information on specifically what you are looking for will be helpful to those with expertise in this area.

What lenses are you using? Something like the 600mm f/4.0, 800mm or what?

Did you have any specific price range in mind, or are you open?

Do you already lave tripod legs that you are trying to mate the head up to (and if so, which legs specifically)?

For landscapes a ball head is often used. For wildlife and moving subjects a gimbal mount is often used. Wold you be OK with having two different head systems and changing them? If not, which is more important to you, landscapes or moving subjects?

The two lenses I have now to start with, are a Canon 24-70mm/2.8 and a Tameron 150-600/5-6.3. I have two tripods right now, a smaller compact carbon with a ball type head for backpacking, and a large sturdy carbon, which is the one I need to get a head for. For now I would like to get a head that would work for everything. As far as price, of course there is a limit, but I do want to get a fairly good one, without over buying for what I am doing.
Thanks...

You may want to take a look at the Uniqball models. I don't have one myself (yet) so I'll point you to some previous FM threads on these heads. They contain within them most of the reviews I've found elsewhere on the net.

it is a compromise wrapped up in a compromise.

you can do more with a good ball head and a sidekick.
