Hi guys

I am new to this forum, so I apologize in advance if I omit to respect the format...I am the new proud owner of the Canon 7D mark II, I was wondering if someone could tell me, how many AF points do I have access to? I noticed that the left and right AF zone are flashing. Does it mean that I only have access to the center zone AF?

Thanks

I presume that the blinking means the same on the 7DII as it would on the 5DIII (with which I am familiar). The blinking AF points are available, but they are sensitive only on a single axis (they are not functioning as cross-type points with that lens).

How many AF points you have access to depends on the lens you have mounted on the camera.

Pages 78-86 of your instruction manual.

Thanks buddy

While in AI Servo, activate all focus points, aim camera at distant object and with shutter button held half-depressed, move camera to the right until a closer subject appears on the right in the viewfinder.

Watch to see when focus changes to the closer subject and what vertical row of AF points are on that closer subject when that happens. That will show you what outer points can be activated with which lens.

You're welcome. The first two faulty Tamrons that I had would not change focus in the above scenario, no matter what focus points I used.
