On Halloween a friend of mine asked if I could take a few photos of her son Jet in his Power Ranger costume after school. They showed up at 2:30 pm on a bright Florida afternoon, the death time for most photographs. She comment, “These don’t have to be professional shots, I just want a few in his costume“. I thought to myself, who is she going to show these images to and when they asked who took them, she will say Vanelli. BAM, there goes my reputation. If I’m going to take a photo, I have to make sure it’s the best photo I can possible capture. With the harsh lighting conditions I opted for closed shade under a tree. I blew out the background knowing I would do something with the image after but I made sure it still looked good for her to show that night.
I used Lightroom and Topaz to complete the effect.
