ok so I picked up a 70-200/4 IS for a good price but its not got the hood .

no biggie as I see generic ones are pretty cheap and even if i buy the genuine one I've still got it for a good price

but as far as generics go I see there are round ones (just like the genuine) and petal ones (more like the hood from the 2.8's)
do any of you have a petal generic? if so is it any longer than the standard hood ?

My 70-200f4IS came with a round hood, I'd just get that one (or a copy)

JJC do one for a tenner on Amazon, I've had no problems with JJC hoods

Bloody good lens.

Thats good to know I think JJC was the one I was looking at

and yes I hope it is a bloody good lens . my 80-200 is showing its age now and I don't want to strain it too much (its never been a good servo AF lens anyway).
I have to say I was amazed how much smaller and lighter (the weight in particular struck me) it is to the 2.8 class lenses .
I knew it was smaller but never having used one I hadn't really twigged by how much .
funny thing is mounted to the 5D3 after my 24-105L it makes the 24-105L seem a very big lens
