I went to use my 70-200 this past weekend on my 5DM2 and it was giving me an error about the connections being bad so I put it on my 1DM3 and looking through the view finder it was really dark but still look a picture. I took the lens off and looked through it and saw the picture below... Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix it or should I just send it in? I really need it for a shoot this Saturday if possible.

Thanks in advance,

I am assuming you mean that the aperture blades are stuck closed down?

Send it off to canon for repairs if you have CPS. Sounds like KEH is a good deal for repairs if you don't.

Before sending it off, you could try to 'exercise' it by setting the aperture to an intermediate value like f/8, and 'pumping' the DOF preview button. Maybe that'll unlock the blades. Of course, it should still go to the service centre.

It looks like a blade or two are not closing down as much as the majority in the area of the pointy looking notch in the aperture open area. A little variation is OK however yours looks like a lot & may be related to your problem.

You can scroll the diaphragm wheel, while in manual exposure mode, one way and then the other while continually holding down the DOF button & watching the blades move to see where they may be hanging up.

I agree that it sounds like a trip to the service center.
