I don't typically shoot at anything lower than about f/2.8 in my normal work, so I have been trying to challenge myself by thinking of everything in focus as another option. Here's one of the only f/8 photos I've taken lately.

Anyone have some good ones to share or tips on how to use more depth of field to your advantage?

Silhouettes are a great time to use f/8.

Additionally, large landscapes were a beam of light or off camera light or some random background formation directs focus back onto your couple is a great time to use f/8.

I wouldn't exactly say this is a good example of using f/8 since the foreground and background are still thrown out of focus and the majority of the image is blue sky with no discernible detail... lol

Nice image, though.

Shooting a RF helps me shoot stopped down and forget about DOF all together because I am not actually looking through the WYSIWYG viewfinder. It helps me worry about what is in the photo compositionally rather than be oohing and ahhing about the DOF coolness of the photo or bokeh or whatever.

To use a large DOF to your advantage make use of lines, nature, shapes, shadows, etc.

Make the b/g worth being in focus and the foreground nothing too distracting. Not the best eg but

if you don't have the think about focus you can be more adventurous in your perspective. Camera held down near the ground.
