I took this picture to feature that there a little ponds everywhere in Minnesota for my facebook page. This photo was edited with Photoshop CS2 and no Lightroom adjustments.

I think too much of this pond is hidden. 2/3rds of the shot is a plain blue sky. I think getting in closer and angling the camera down to show more of the pond and less of that boring sky would really help with this. I know how marshy and wet it can be around ponds, but getting some hip waders will help with that.

I have shots I took showing more of the pond, but I felt I liked this one as it catches the vast sky over the ponds, which is a big part of the effect ponds have here, where everywhere else it's almost impossible to see sky for all the trees (a reputation Minnesota has with friends I know). Plenty of sky to see here(!) was part of my point of shooting the sky. I also had to do a lot of adjusting to capture the vibrancy the sky holds, when there is a lot of it. Not entirely truthful, as I overdid it kinda. More blue than it is in reality. But just maybe bug friends who live in areas with vast sky claiming I am missing out on it. I used to live in the southwest before. I also have 30 second exposure night shots that show more stars than you can see in person, for similar reasons. Yes, we can see the stars here too! (Or not actually - lol).

I do want to try getting in to the water for shots though, that would look amazing if I could get to the water level. I'll consider getting some waders.

Thanks for the input though. I appreciate it.

Lovely pond for sure. I like the color of the water.
I always like vast space where I can breath and your shot is supplying that.
If you do have some shots of the pond a little closer, please post them.

Thanks!

Kee

Thanks! I may have a closer shot or two, I'll have a look.

Here is a shot of the same pond, but on a different day at a different time. Click DSC_0696 under the image to see it bigger.
