p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon 70-200 MKI focus pulsing

Not sure how else to describe this other than "pulsing", but my 70-200 will scan the focus range (min to max) repeatedly and never lock in and focus. It's very quick cycling from the min/max range, like a quarter or half second or so. But while it is focus searching it sounds like it's "pulsing" as it will continue to so while the focus button is engaged.

I have confirmed that this problem happens on multiple bodies to ensure that the problem is the lens. The only way I can correct this is to switch the AF/MF and the min focus distance switches on/off and usually cycle the body too.

I am planning to send this in to CPS for them to take a look but thought I'd see if anyone else has ever come across this.

Thanks,
- John

Have had this happen when AF setting is wrong. Check that "Lens drive when AF impossible" is ON in camera settings
