p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Video head for Photos and Video

Recently I have been considering buying a video head to use for stills as well as video.
Logic being the head will serve both needs for shooting wildlife and nature given it could pan/tilt
for following moving wildlife and even bif.
The head I am looking at is a Benro S8 as it can take a decent payload like a 1d mark IV with a 500mm. I am also looking at various gimbals that could possibly fill the double duty role.

Does anyone have any experience using a video head for stills or a gimbal for video?

Thanks

I have a video head, but I don't use it for shooting stills, unless the camera on it is set up for video, and I just want to take a snap, or two. I haven't tried doing video on my SideKick. I recently shot about 45 min of video on my 468MG ball head, but it was static (i.e. no movement of the camera). I generally shoot BIF handheld with my 1DIV and 500/4L IS.

I see people here in Asia using a Manfrotto...I think it is the 502. This one:
