This was taken with the MP-65 and MT-24. Just using Stofen and diffusing with light textured matte fine art paper. I had this setup on the kitchen table and think maybe that reddish color came from the cabinets.

I like the red! A tad more DOF might help.

Hi rw11,
Sorry about not including the exif data. I've been switching back and forth with PS versions and forgot the memory hog CC had the metadata turned off.
This was shot at f16 the most it will close down.........I would normally shoot this kind of stuff with the Sigma 105 but my MY-24 will not fit on it.

The red gives a good 3D effect and a relief from all-over metallic colour.

huh f/16 - I usually back off 1 stop from the min. to reduce diffraction effects, but DOF is so shallow it might be a good idea to try a shot at the min. aperture as well

another trick if the Mpix is high is to lower the mag. ratio and then crop

It does look to me like the tip is just slightly defocused

rw11 I never let a small amount of diffraction interfere with getting the field I want on a shot, especially with macro. It of course has to be in focus. Defocused is not a word I'm familiar with.
Any-rate I thank you for looking and sharing your thoughts. This is a crop from the original and the point I focused on. Maybe I missed it.

Hey it was just supposed to be fun anyway so I hope your day goes great.

Quite sharp!

If you were to do an exhibit, you could put both photos in it.
