Seriously considering buying a clean, used 1D Mark 1V. Camera had over 300,000 clicks on shutter but got a new shutter installed by Canon 40,000 clicks ago. Any other items I should be concerned with? It's a relatively local, in-person deal. Seller missing receipt from shutter job but has recent CLA report from Canon with current shutter count from that date. Happening tomorrow. Thanks

Hope you're buying this for less than $2,000 and between $1,500 and $2k if it's a beater because it maybe hard to re-sell.

Obviously depends a lot on price. Care to disclose that? Lots available here on the B & S so compare accordingly...

Even with a replaced shutter a body with that many clicks on it will have a lot a mileage on other moving parts like the mirror box. If you can get it for a very low price I would consider it otherwise there are likely better deals to be had.

I wouldn't touch it personally, unless you were going to run it into the ground. No one's going to touch it.

A friends mirror box is over a million clicks on that model.

At this juncture, I would wait for credible reviews on the 7D2. You'll be waiting less than a month.
With grip, a brand-new 7D2 will run you $2k.... roughly the price of a middlin-beater 1D4. and may very well be a better camera in every way except maybe build.

BTW, if the shutter was replaced, it should show the actuations would have been reset to 0 by Canon. If its showing 300k, the shutter is not new.... I would not touch this at this point..... No receipt? Canon should have record of the shutter replacement... if someone other than Canon did it... RUN, don't walk away from this one.

Sometimes Canon resets the counter sometimes not, total crap shoot.

Good clean copy with only 40k on new shutter, $2,000-$2500 no problem. I would want valid proof of shutter replacement though.

How old is the battery? OEM replacements aren't cheap. Just another point to discuss, if you are arguing price.

I'm in the same camp about the 1DMKIV. For reach, and enough Mp to do some cropping along with Fast accurate AF, its probably the best bang for the buck wildlife camera available.
Yes the 1DX is better, but not for reach , unless that isn't needed. Yes the 7D2 will be hopefully better than the original, but I still don't think it will compete with the 1DMKIV.
I still think the best possible combo would be a 6D and 1DMKIV, should cover anything you could need.
