Pretty fantastic shot I would say.
I really like how you caught the sheen on the back feathers.
This to me is right up there with some of the best on the FM nature & wildlife forum.

I agree with eyeball. Cormorants are very hard to get exposed right. You had perfect light for it.

Hard to improve. Perhaps give it the USM at 16, 60, 0, faded to 40-50%. Maybe trim a little from the top and sides?

Beautiful Scott. The only minor change I may consider is a Curves adjustment, using the highlight dropper and clicking on a portion of the white branch, then reducing the opacity to 23% as I prefer a more neutral color on the branch. I realize the light was warm and you have the choice of using a layer mask to keep the warm light on the bird only, since the curves adjustment will render the overall image cooler. I also reduced the luminosity of the blue channel in Hue/Saturation by -20 and increased the blue saturation by +16. None of these adjustments are absolutely necessary, it is all personal preference.

Thanks to all of you. Confirms my pleasure with the new toy.
Karen: debated the crop quite a bit. Your comment fits with a slightly different crop I will reconsider.
Barabara: the one area I felt most stuck on. Somehow the color balance on the branch has felt off. Your rework and explanation improve and it doesn't hurt to have a slightly richer sky.
