Are you editing on a calibrated monitor? That may explain some of the differences. Also, how are you converting to JPEG? I find a big difference in results using export in Lightroom compared to "Save for Web" on Photoshop. Save for web has a preview that I sometimes find helpful.
These are fun. I agree, #7 is probably the strongest, but I like the giggles in #9. These are cute young ladies!
I'm just using my 15" RetinaMBP right now, but I've never calibrated the screen - and honestly, I just don't know how without buying a monitor calibrator/software that I can't afford right now. These were all edited slightly in camera raw, then a bit more in photoshop for more precise work. I just saved as copy in TIFF then JPEG format to a new folder when I finished up. Usually I keep them at the highest quality I can when saving as JPEG.. I haven't explored lightroom the way I should quite yet.
I'm also only shooting with a Nikon D80 right now - so crop frame/lower res images are on par for me . I'm working on saving up for a full frame body, though.
Thanks for the advice though - I'll check out Lightroom's export function a bit more to compare the files.
They are a great family to work with - but man did I work up a sweat chasing them around the yard all afternoon!
