p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · For low light, A6000 + focal reducer = D700?

Hi folks...

So let me see if I understand this.

If I use, say, my Nikon 80-200 2.8 with a focal reducer (which would gain, apparently, 1 stop of light) on my A6000, I would be shooting approx the equivalent of an 80-200 F2.

Or in other words, I would have the same low light performance with an A6000 + focal reducer, as I would have with a D700? (Of course I lose AF with the focal reducer.)

I'm using DXO scores...it looks like the D700 is about 1 stop faster than an A6000 (for every 25% increase in sports / low-light score, about 1/3rd stop is gained).

Thanks...

Yep, that's roughly the case. The FL reducer nets you almost exactly a 1 stop gain in low light performance.

The real issue with an 80-200/2.8 on an A6000 is handling. Functionally you have a large lens with a little handle.

Oh right, yep, there are definitely a few trade-offs and concerns.

Thanks...
