I started shooting real estate and my 28 1.8g is not wide enough. What would be a good choice for a wider lens for my Nikon D600? Trying to find something nice that won't cost me a ton of money.

Samyang 14mm would be cheapest and sharpest probably.

If you are looking for a zoom, Tokina 16-28 f/2.8 is worth a look. It's heavy and bulky, but delivers excellent image quality and has very little distortion (good for real estate).
If you are looking for something cheaper, I agree on Samyang 14 mm.

Iv'e never used a manual focus lens, so I'm not sure if the Samyang would be a good choice for me. That Tokina looks like it's something I would want. Do you guys think the AF would be decently fast? I would like to use that Tokina for weddings and possibly sell my Nikon 28 1.8g prime. I never go below 2.8. The 16-28 would be nice....

I have been using it on a Canon 5DIII and the AF speed has been more than fine to me. But I haven't used it for fast action or the like, I never pushed it too far in that department.

Bought the Tokina. So far it seems spot on for AF, I read reviews saying it was great to horrible for AF. On my D600 seems to work as well as my Nikon lenses. Pretty fast AF too. For the price, this lens is AMAZING!!!! Thanks for recommending it! exactly what I was looking for!

i have the samyang 14. you don't really need to focus it. just find where infinity is on the focusing ring once (you have to use live view, don't trust the markings) and leave it there forever. at F/8 - F/11, everything beyond about a metre is very sharp and in focus.

I have heard a lot of similar statement with respect to ultra wide angle lenses, but I was surprised to find that with my new-old Voigtlaender 12mm f/5.6, at f/5.6 and even f/8, I can very much see where I have focused, with my Sony A7. I do need to focus carefully, and this isn't all that easy with this lens, since it is somewhat slow and I see a lot of noise while focusing compared to faster lenses.

I don't know if this holds for the Samyang/Rokinon.

I'll echo Carsten's comments, but with a Sony 20mm f/2.8 lens. Even at f/8 (and certainly f/5.6), I can see where the focal plane is.

For real-estate photography, I can't imagine that focusing by live view would be at all an issue.
