Nice! Where/how does one obtain jumping spiders?

They are out in the woods mostly, but can be found anywhere-- even inside your house. Where I live (Singapore), you can't buy them from pet shops, though I suspect that might be possible elsewhere.

Thanks, the only ones I have seen around here (California) are very small, maybe 3-4mm in total length. How large was this example?

That would be about right Tim, they vary in size but max I'd say here is approx. 10mm

Here in QLD we get them in the house and the garden in some beautiful colours. I love them !

Nice work Terrence, like the fact that the legs AND the eyes are in focus. did you stack this ? if not, what f stop ?

Thx

Andy

Thanks guys. Yes, this was a big one--probably around 10mm if not bigger, and one of the biggest jumpers I've seen. Andy, this isn't a stack as it wasn't necessary. It was so big I shot it around 1.5X I'm guessing, so I used f13.

Great shot. Probably the most beautiful spider of them all to photograph I reckon. Never seen one 10mm long though. That is big! Usually about 5mm where I am.
cheers,
peter

I'm with you Peter, I'm just up the road in Ballarat and the jumpers we have are usually nice warm ones to keep the cold away!
Seriously though, our 'jumpers' are only 3-5mm in length.
I love seeing the beautifull colors that the tropical jumpers have in the pics on this forum. . .lovely shots Terrence. . .
