p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canaon Ring Lite MR-14EX II for fossils with a 100L | |
I’d like some diverse input here. I’m into digging up fossils (just this year). I have been experimenting with my 5D3/100L/Kenko tubes in my work space at home. For lighting I’m using 600RT x 2 with polarizing gels on the flash, CPL on the lens. After watching a demo on line from the ROM (Royal Ontario Museum) I have been taking shots with the subjects submerged in water, which seems to help the contrast and brings out some colour.
The 600’s being so close are a bit problematic for lighting such little beasties. I’m considering getting the Canon Macro Ring Lite MR-14EX II. It looks like the rest of my 600 system and can use my 600’s as slaves.
I’d appreciate any experience with using the new MR-EX II with 600’s and anybody else doing small fossils?
I’m picking up a Manfrotto 190XBPRO with the rapid flip centre column today as my two Gitzos just aint making my life easy on these shots! Expense is a consideration here too. This retails in Canada for $700 with taxes. Ouch.
I’m open to input.
