Chuck. Thanks man, the guidance means more than you may realize.
Duy:
1.Yeah, that may have been a reach, I just thought champagne, first dance, symbolism? Lol, I don't know, sometimes I just throw darts in the dark and hope they hit something. Sometimes it's just a bit of a WTF moment, but I was struggling to find some interesting composition. Lot of people on their cell phones, weird light going on, lot of variables that weren't conducive to super interesting composition. Plus, it was pretty tight in there, not a ton of room to move around. However, that's just an excuse, your right, not my best effort, just an effort.
Edit: Haha, yeah, I was also trying to block out my beauty dish and a guy with a bunch of neck tattoos.
2. As for the toast, spot on, It was close, I liked the idea of it. I know it wasn't quite perfect, but it was close and good enough to blog. And I didn't notice the post, will try to clone that out for them.
3. Yeah, eff, that pose sucked, what was I thinking? Lol. As for the leaves, my stupid PCsync cord decided to stop working for this one, I had a flash on leaves from the right to light them up so it wasn't just a bare silhouette of the leaves. I posted it mainly because I was grasping at straws and needed to blog some sort of portrait work, there was some really awesome light in the spot earlier, but there was also death rays from the sun melting everyones face off, so we stayed in the tent as to not become one big pile of membranous goo.
John: Good call on 27 especially. Didn't notice that for some reason.
Doug: Yeah man, that's my biggest weakness is not seeing the whole frame. I have a bit of tunnel vision at time when I am shooting, I focus on the subject or the light, or whatever catches my eye and don't always slow down and look at the edges and see what is not adding to the photo. I don't always scan the room for things I don't want in the frame. I need to start working on that.
Eric: yeah, that was a gamble, took about 10 frames in between running back and forth for bouquet and garter and hoping that the rain didn't start in the next few minutes. This was the last frame I got before all hell broke loose and it stormed it's butt off. Got lucky there. I was considering grabbing them for some sort of portrait, then common sense took over and I thought to my self, "Self, is it smart to have your bride and groom stand in the middle of an open field during a lightening storm? No, no it is not"
Edit: Also they were lighting off fireworks at the same time, and if I had gotten that, it would have been game over, but I didn't have a tripod yet (2nd shooter was grabbing it) and I was steadying my camera by hand on some landscaping brings using a towel, just looked like crap. Also, no bolts of lighting, just flashes in the clouds. So, that would have been pretty dang cool if it worked out.
