This is in response to the challenge to get my wife while quilting, and the other tipping point challenge. These were taken within the last 1/2 hour.I had to wait for my wife to get her hair done

Some with fill flash, some not. Some a bit slow (hence the flash). I got my daughter and grand daughter to pose in one shot.

The quilt was started by my wifes mother 60 years ago. My wife found it among her things and decided to finish it. She is too arthritic to sit at a regular quilt frame so she works with a hoop.

The quilt has fabric from clothing she and her brother wore as children.

Ben, these are very nice, I especially like the one including you're Daughter and Granddaughter. The last 2 images are a little warm, I would push them toward the cooler WB side as you did in the first 2 images.

Thanks, the last two had fill flash, the first two were overhead LEDs, corrected via a white card. I did not do a white card for the flash, maybe i should go do that.

All I did for these was correct WB, sharpen and downsize.

Edit. I shot the white card while I had the same set up and got the correct WB. Still a bit warmer than the non flash versions. But I have to trust the card.

The images showcase the quilt in progress very nicely.

These are beautiful photos!! I love how you've composed this with the quilt spread out and wrapped all around her. You've shot from a low angle to best show off the quilt. And the grandchildren around her smiling and watching her at her craft. You and your wife will treasure these forever!

Good stuff, Ben!

I love the backstory - gives much more emotion to the pics.

My favorite is the first.

Two smalls concerns: slight slant to the right and the blueish light hitting the background wall.

Cheers,

Jeff

Yes. Both Blue and Green contamination.

Was flashed used with Florescent lights or probably flash bounce.

Yes, I have new respect for people shooting interiors. Even with a TSE I was not able to find a vertical solution that was wide enough, avoided direct outside backlight and certain clutter.

Your's has a green cast, I think my last ones match the scene very well.

LoL. Pretty awful cast.

I replaced it with the correct one.

Thanks again for your effort. Not sure why, but my last post is very very close to reality and even my wife says so :-)

And yours is displaying much differently. So either a viewing environment issue or perhaps added saturation.

Diggin' the inclusion of the generations.

+1 @ mixed lighting challenges. Here's my effort, keyed in to the batting and the falloff of color along the light switch wall. (Hmmm, seems to be losing something in IE).

Would also like to see something with a little closer (foreshortening maybe) of the hand/needle/thread action. Is she working on the binding or does she hand quilt the entire quilt?

BTW ... we stopped in Lincoln, NE @ the International museum there.

Thanks for the rework, looks very realistic WB wise. She is doing the quilting here. She started with a regular frame but could not sit long enough so she went to the hoop.

It took me 2-3 minutes to get out of my position after shooting this, so it was not spontaneous. My daughter and grand daughter were headed home so I did not have a chance to reshoot with them.

No need to key off the batting, here is my McBeth card.
