Yesterday was an eminently forgettable day for me as almost all of my studio flashes refused to work with my new Vagabonds ML. They would fire only when they wanted and when they did it was full dump

A fine gentleman at the photoshoot lent me his YN-560III manual flash to use and while I could get some decent shots with it, the flash refused to stay latched onto the body, despite being the knob/screw tighetned to the max.

Has anybody experienced the same ? Is the D810's flash hot-shoe socket a touch bigger ?

Same case with the Metz 50 AF-1 for Nikon.

I have a bunch of the YN-560II's and they are very solid on my D810. My SB-800 is less so due to the cam lock than the YN-560II's with the screw knob.
