This is a slight crop of a 2.7X image stack with Zerene. I used an M150mm f2.8 645 manual lens with the M55 f2.8 reversed. There were 3/4 inch baffles in front of the 55 and in front of the 150 and the incandescent lights are polarized with another polarizer between the lenses. 63 frames with Dmap retouched with Pmax. Camera is Canon 6D. Both lenses at f4.

Probably a Xanthoria species, with X. parientina a likely candidate. The grey parts are just dead sections.

Hello Harold. Thanks for the interest and the id help. I have been looking for an id in Brodo's lichen book and suspect it might be the Xanthoria elegans because the habitat includes Mt. Hopkins where I found the specimen. When wet it is mostly green and is one of the most abundant lichens near the summit of the mountain.
