I am buying a used Nikon D300 body for $450. I am a beginner and would like advise regarding lens. Which ones would be would serve me well and fit on my camera. I am interested in action shots and portraiture. Horses, vacations, family. I live in Florida so landscape, night/day skies are fabulous here. thank you all for guidance. vk

Hi Victoria,

Welcome to FM! I would suggest posting this in the Nikon Forum. You're much more likely to get brand-specific advice from people who use the cameras and lenses you're asking about if you post in the gear forums rather than here. Good luck!

You could PM an FM member in that Forum named Andre LeBonte who is quite versed in the DX Nikon Format. Alternatively you could go to www.bythom.com and search through his reviews of Nikon cameras. He's most thorough in my view. HTH

I suggest the 16-85 vr not a lowlight lens but plenty sharp on a D300
I live in Florida also and it was my favorite lens at the time
Also a 35 1.8dx for a low cost prime

18-200 is a good start. 16-85 is great. 17-55 for low light zoom. 35mm 1.8 af-s is wonderful. And don't forget the 50mm 1.8D for an inexpensive low light lens that's great for the price.
