Very cool little critters Tim. Glad you enjoyed your hike in late fall temps...while we "enjoyed" hot and humid here....hope the bird you encountered is as special as you have teased!

Thanks Tam. Yes they were on alert for hawks and golden eagles.

Very different colouration from the Hoary. Very brown. These are superb images Tim. Lovely clarity and detail, great light. Those critters jump right off the screen. Excellent work Tim.

Indeed Ken, thank you!

Your hike sounds like an awesome day Tim, I would love to be close enough to enjoy it with you... color me jealous.

Great job showing us this Marmot family as they do their daily thing and get ready for winter too... really enjoyed seeing this set.
3 and 4 are my favorites, but they're all cool and very well done as always... really good work Tim and I'm quite sure you enjoyed your time with them today.

Kirk

I would greatly appreciate if you DID join me Kruk

Thanks so much for the good words my friend. I can't wait to go back to that area, it will be a new favorite I'm sure.

Very well done Tim. These guys getting fat for the winter eating grass make me wonder why I eat salad to lose weight. ~ Ron

I'm with you Ron, don't take dietary advice from these rolly polly guys Now join me for the hike..... Thank you buddy!!!

Extra cute little critters, Tim and they seem to completely ignore you
Clear and sharply defined detail with lifelike colors
I particularly like the pose in the last one, but I enjoyed every single one.
Socrate

They were more concerned with the predators than with me, that's for sure! Thank you for the good words Socrate.

I see you took the 'lightweight' lens on your hike

These guys did everything they could to not directly look at you
I do like that dipped snout of lighter coloring, very distinguished looking characters Tim

The hike sounds refreshing......thanks for sharing your outing and dropping a 'teaser' for later!
Karl

Yup took the light lens

I have plenty with them looking at me but... this is what they do naturally, stare into oblivion

The hike was marvelous, doing another here shortly stay tuned

Thank you Karl!

Nice looking shots Tim, especially like the, Dad on High Alert, shot. There are many wonderful ones in the group too. Hiking in areas like that is a great experience all it's own, it's always better when you get fantastic pictures.

1 then 4 are my favorites in order. I have a friend that did his university research on the Vancouver Island Marmot. They are great animals. Scuffy and tough and they love the mountains. Just like me.

Thanks Michael. I'm sure she was gathering fodder for most of the day. To give you an idea of what the climate is like for them.... this hike is usually only open 3-4 months of the year, the rest of the year a super deep snow pack prevents access. One can expect snow there any time of the year.
